26 March 2009

Diploma students need accurate, up-to-date and accessible labour market information (LMI) for their Diploma learning as well as for their career planning. To meet this need, schools, colleges and 14-19 partnerships are looking for reliable and relevant sources of national and local LMI which they can turn into attractive and user-friendly learning materials. I am delighted to be your guest blogger from now until the end of April. Please post your questions and comments about how we can develop LMI for the Diplomas in this blog.

Choosing diplomas

Anthony Barnes
18 December 2008

It’s Anthony here. I’m the hot topics guest blogger until the end of January. I was thinking that it will soon be Year 9 options time. The era of constrained choices is over and young people now have many more new opportunities that they can consider. Before young people can choose the Diplomas, they need to understand them which includes knowing how to explain them to their parents/carers. So how can we introduce the Diploma in careers lessons for Year 9 in an interesting and engaging way? Use the hot topics blog to suggest ideas and signpost any resources that you have found useful.
