Face-to-face support

Free face-to-face support and development modules are available to all Diploma consortia, whether you are new or well-established, and whichever lines of learning you are offering.

The support is flexible – many modules can be delivered in combination with each other, and to the depth your consortium requires.

How face-to-face support works

14-19 reform
An overview of 14-19 reform, where the Diploma fits in, and how your institution might be affected. Modules include Overview of 14-19 reform including the Qualifications and Credit Framework, and Understanding the Diploma in the context of 14-19 reform.
Preparing for delivery
An introduction to the Diploma and its components, along with health checks to make sure you are on track to successful Diploma delivery. Includes Inside the Diploma.
Teaching and learning
A range of ideas to increase participation, motivation and achievement, including strategies to enhance applied or experiential learning. Modules include What makes good applied learning?, Classroom management and Embedding personal, learning and thinking skills in Diploma line of learning delivery.
Assessment
A wide range of assessment topics, including the principles that underpin assessment for learning and controlled assessment. Includes a range of modules on such as Preparation for external assessment and Evidence gathering.
Information, advice and guidance (IAG)
To help you deliver effective IAG, there is a wide range of support available, including two types of face-to-support - Effective IAG - raising awareness and Effective IAG - meeting your needs.
Curriculum planning
A range of curriculum design methods, including integrating additional and specialist learning (ASL) and personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS).
Working with employers
Explore ways to forge stronger links with employers and other education and training providers. Modules include Inside the Workplace, Work experience planning and management, Assignment development for work experience and Employer engagement across a consortium.
Collaboration
Different collaborative approaches that you can tailor to suit each of your partner organisations, helping you to build partnerships and support learners across your consortium.
Coaching skills and techniques
Specialist training for Diploma line leads and 14-19 reform curriculum leads.
Line of learning networks
Get together with colleagues in your area to develop links, share best practice and be at the centre of what’s happening in your area.
Foundation Learning
A range of support for schools and local authorities, whether they are already taking part in the Foundation Learning pilot or are working towards delivering from September 2010.
General Qualifications Support Programme
Helps you to develop your curriculum offer for the new revised A levels and the Extended Project qualification in the context of 14-19 reforms.
