These modules help you explore ways to forge stronger links with employers and other education and training providers.

The modules can be tailored to help you work with employers to enhance your Diploma delivery, develop more effective employer engagement and gain an overview of some of the legal aspects that need to be taken into consideration.


Inside the Workplace

  • Considers the importance of applied learning in Diploma delivery.
  • Works with you to develop a set of personal aims and objectives for the visit.
  • Gives you the chance to meet an employer, find out how their business operates and gain an insight into their sector.
  • Helps you to understand the skills that a young worker needs when entering the workplace.
  • Considers how links can be made between your Diploma delivery team and the employer.
  • Gives you the chance to plan activities based on the employer visit and share good practice.


Working with employers

  • Helps you to develop strategies that will ensure that you successfully engage with employers.
  • Provides practical advice and guidance on the best ways to approach and involve different types of employers.
  • Offers you examples of good practice, which will help you consider how to maximise the benefits of employer involvement across the curriculum.


Work experience planning and management (legal aspects)

  • Provides an overview of work experience management including legal issues relating to young people at work, health and safety, recent child protection legislation and sources of information and help.
  • Includes an overview of the roles and responsibilities of those involved in managing work experience, including schools and other organisations.
  • Covers responsibilities of all partners when work experience is managed by a third party.


Assignment development for work experience

  • Covers assignment development to support personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS) or work experience.
  • Explores assignment writing skills to support learners.


Employer engagement across a consortium

  • Considers practical ways of approaching and involving different types of employers and how they can contribute to Diploma delivery.
  • Ensures that joint protocols are developed to maximise employer engagement across a consortium.
  • Provides information on the range of support organisations that can support practitioners with employer engagement.
  • Explores strategies for engaging employers to support collaborative delivery of the Diploma.
