Hi All
I've just completed writing this project with Lindsay from the Evening Gazette. Its an excellent opportunity for independant learning, PLTS and employer engagement.
It was developed as part of outcome one for the network which will be a register of employers who are active and willing to engage with us. I thought that this would highlight how engagement can happen and that it doesn't have to be tied to a unit but can be broad based, experiential and individual.
Lindsay and I developed the brief together after chatting about the diplomas and Lindsay immediately saw the benefits for students and the Gazette through this involvement. Its free and a win/win situation and very easily managed - what more could we want!
It was important for me that Lindsay originally briefed the students so they were fully aware that they were involved in a 'real' project with real deadlines and they would be reponsible to an employer and not tutors.
Its ongoing throughout their studies, the more they do, the more they learn and benefit. This can also contribute to their portfolio for employment/ HE should they choose to progress into journalism, broadcast or print media.
Have a look and let me know what you think, I welcome the feedback and ways to improve and share this engagement.
