The future is amazing!

If you want some new ideas for how to present the theme of the changing world of work and new jobs in the future look at this article from the Guardian

Thanks to David Ritchie for passing this on to me

Also a grid for recording plans against the IAG strategy - feel free to amend - may be of use to those of you working in LAs

The Shape of Jobs to Come

Hi

The report that the Guardian article relates to is a long one! I plan to use some of it for a session I am planning on LMI, however will be careful not to create the impression that all of these jobs will definately exist and will be bountiful, as I think that can be counter productive when looking at LMI and trying to raise aspirations, how many virtual clutter organisers will get work during times of recession? Although with the growth of social networking there may well be a demand for social networking counsellors! and I could certainly use the help of a time broker and trader!

An easy activity would be to give small groups of learners cards with the title of jobs of the future on, they have to define the job, the group that gets the closest definition wins, the link is below;

Guardian article

New legs for footballers... What about all those PE teachers? We will be able to advise young people to follow sport and active leisure without the proviso of a back up plan when the knees go!

Maybe an article like that would help teachers who are advising young people to understand that 'our' experience is not going to be their experience.

Secondly - thanks for the checklist - really useful
