icould - could you?

27 January 2010

Many of you who work directly in the field of careers education and IAG will have already come across the great website - icould. This is so simple that it is genius! A funky modern website just dedicated to short films about real people at work this is a great resource to use in lots of ways.

  • For Diploma lessons you could search by employment sector and will easily find a range of films to match your diploma line, show to learners and get them talking
  • In PSHE education or Careers Education you can use them to set learners a research exercise linked to particular jobs. Learners will be able to use icould themselves to find a range of different people doing similar jobs to compare their career paths
  • Get learners to look at the job titles for ten of the films and try to guess what the job is about - there are some really new titles - have to confess I had never heard of a 'Laughter Facilitator' - what a job!!

To get started go to:

Or you could try this one first - just because I like him and went to a school that I used to support in Hackney!

Hi Chris Yes I think icould

Hi Chris

Yes I think icould is great too, (also like Trevor! credible role model), it provides a link to another useful site www.horsemouth.co.uk which is great for online mentoring something which I think we will see grow in popularity over the coming months/years, particularly as its an area of priority for government. Anyone over the age of 16 can be a mentor or be mentored on line, it seems to be safe and well organised.

cheers Jayne
