Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment numbers set to double

Twice as many learners have signed up to study the Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment in 2010 than did in 2009.

Over 3,000 learners have signed up to start in September 2010 – compared to 1,700 in 2009.

Nick Gooderson, head of standards and qualifications at ConstructionSkills, said: "These figures are encouraging, considering the fact that we're at the very early stages of this new qualification. But I must stress, in order for the Diploma to maintain this momentum, we really do need the continued support of schools, colleges and employers.

"The Diploma really is a combined industry-wide team effort. All those involved are delivering a unique qualification and exciting learning experience."
